Orish Grinstead, Irish's twin sister and founding member of R&B girl group, "702", died on Sunday, April 20th from kidney failure at the age of 27 years old. According to friends Orish had been ill for a long time, and sadly, at the time of her death, she also suffered from other medical complications including cancer that had yet to be treated.
Originally, there were 4 group members: twin sisters Irish & Orish, LeMisha, and their cousin Amelia. Orish Grinstead dropped out of the group and was replaced by LeMisha; and Amelia was replaced by Irish's good friend Kameelah Williams. These structural changes were taking place while Michael Bivins continued to work with different producers and songwriters to get the right feel for their first album. The new group was christened "702" (the area code for Las Vegas), which is where the girls are from. LeMisha was the lightest one who always rocked the short hair. Irish was the thinner, younger one with the long hair. Kameelah was the darker girl who outsang them all combined. You never saw Orish perform with "702". Orish eventually made her big screen debut in the 2004 low budget film "The Brewster Project", which also starred Regina Belle and former Destiny’s Child Member Farrah Franklin.
Our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt sympathy go out to her family.
